GET WIRED WITH THIS GUIDE TO WIRE FORMING STEEL!

Fill up your cup of coffee because it’s time to get wired!  Wire forms have many different functions in many industries but they all have one need in common, they need to be durable so picking the right material for your products wire form is critical to its function.  Low Carbon Steel has great bend-ability to create frames but in this blog, we will guide you through the various grades of stainless steel.

GRADE 304 STAINLESS STEEL

This grade of steel has the durability needed to handle heavier loads and is ideal for mild corrosive environments.  Here are its qualities:

  • High corrosion resistance
  • High tensile strength of 61 MPa (90 ksi)
  • Resists oxidization

GRADE 316 STAINLESS STEEL

This grade of steel is more corrosion resistant than grade 304.  It is more chloride (salt) resistant, this is great if you need the part to stand up against the salty roads of the midwest in the winter!

GRADE 330 STAINLESS STEEL

Need steel that can beat the heat?  This grade of steel can handle temperatures up to 1,900°F (that level of heat will get you wired up!).

GRADE 434 STAINLESS STEEL

This grade of stainless steel is less chemically resistant that other grades of stainless steel but it still has the following resistance:

  • Oxidization
  • Corrosion
  • Pitting
